Pre-Season Preparation: July to September

Land Preparation Equipment (Tractors, Disc Ploughs, Ridgers)

• Complete engine service: oil, filters, coolant, belts

• Hydraulic system inspection and fluid change

• Implement inspection: check disc blades, tines, ploughshares for wear — replace heavily worn items before the season

• Tyre inspection and pressure setting

• Electrical system check: battery, lights, starter

• Greasing of all grease points across the tractor and implements

Irrigation Pumps and Engines

• Full engine service: oil, filters, spark plugs or injectors

• Pump seal and impeller inspection — replace any worn seals before the season

• Inlet strainer and pipework inspection for blockages or damage

• Operational test under load before the growing season

Mills and Processing Equipment

• Pre-season bearing replacement on any worn bearings

• Belt set replacement

• Screen inspection and replacement if worn

• Full operational test

During Growing Season: October to March

Weekly During Active Use

• Engine oil level — every tractor, pump, generator before use

• Air filter inspection — dusty field conditions clog filters rapidly

• Fuel check and fuel quality inspection for irrigation engines

• Any unusual noise or performance change to be investigated immediately, not deferred

Monthly During Growing Season

• Tractor engine oil change if operating more than 100 hours per month

• Hydraulic fluid level and condition check

• All grease points

• Belt tension and alignment check on pumps and processing equipment

Post-Harvest Maintenance: April to June

Post-harvest is the ideal time for major maintenance work — there is no operational urgency, and equipment can be taken out of service for extended periods without commercial consequence.

• Tractor full major service including valve clearance check

• Pump impeller and seal inspection and rebuild if required

• Mill complete overhaul: bearings, belts, screens, engine service

• Any welding, fabrication, or structural repairs to implements and equipment

• Storage preparation for equipment not needed until next season
